Sonu Nigam is renowned for his melodious voice and impressive collection of versatile songs in Kannada films. He has consistently expressed his love and respect for Kannada culture and the state of Karnataka. However, his affection for Kannada was questioned during a concert at an engineering college in Namma Bengaluru when he made a controversial statement to connect the “Kannada Song” request to the Phalegam attack in Kashmir.
His statement led to several criticisms, legal FIR Action, and a possible ban from the Kannada Film Industry. The matter is still under discussion, and final inputs are awaited.
In response to the controversy, Sonu Nigam released a social media video stating that 4-5 individuals were not merely requesting him to sing a Kannada song but threatening him to do so.
He emphasized that he has always been loved and supported by the Kannada people more than any other group, and he holds a great deal of respect and affection for them. Nigam clarified that his statement was directed only at those who made the demands, not the entire Kannada community. However, his reiterations intensify the emotions of Kannadigas, who are unhappy with the incident.
We must wait for the overall controversial statement regarding Sonu Nigam’s ban from the Kannada Film Industry and his contributions to the music fraternity shortly.
